Pug's Day Out

Hello again.  It has warmed up a lot today!  It's much better then the -40 weather we have been having the past few days.  Brittny's car said it was 32 today and that felt nice!  It really helps me with the potty training.  I don't mind being out there so much now.

We decided to have a Pug's day out.  It would be nice to get us all together again (meaning my Pug family) but we will have to plan a play date in the future.  It will be nice to see how much we have all improved.  Speaking of improvements..

Look at how much my brother Gizmo has improved after about 17 days of treatment!  He looks like a different dog now!  It's awesome.  Go Gizmo!!

He looks great!

Back to the Pug's day out.  I got to hang out with my sister for about two hours today.  It was really great to see her again!  We went to PetSmart first.

Here we go!

While we were there our foster moms saw some friends of theirs.  They were very nice and we liked to play with them.

Jordan and Bailee

We went to the back of the store and we ran and ran together!  It felt good to have a large open space to do this.  The house I live in is a good size but there was so much more room there!  I could run outside but I get cold too fast.  After we ran around we went and looked at the cats for adoption and afterwards we looked at the fish.

My sister Ivy.

They have big eyes like me!

We spent a long time there and then we decided to leave.  My foster mom bought me this hat before we left though.

Cool, huh?

We then went to this place called Natural Pet Center.  We saw some more cats there for adoption and we got to meet a few more nice people.

My rescue!

Ivy and myself with our foster moms.

Then we decided to go home.  It was just what we needed to play ourselves out and get some socializing done.  It's was a great day.

I also had my eye check appointment on Friday.  That went really good.  They said my eyes are looking so much better and my fur is starting to grow back nicely.  I still need to continue my eye meds for another two weeks and then I will need to go back again.  They said I might always have a little bit of cloudiness to my eyes since they were so bad and didn't get the treatment I needed right away but I can see pretty good and that's all I really care about.  If I have to have a little bit of a cloudiness to both eyes for the rest of my life that's okay.  It could always be much worse.  Believe me, I have been in some bad situations already in my young life.

At the vet getting my eyes looked at.

That's all I really have for now.  See you guys later!

Hey guys!

If you're going to call me Mohawk, I better have one!

Every time I went outside today I went pee!  I also have had zero pee accidents in the house today.  I have been going poo in my kennel but I went poo outside today.  I has been awhile since I have done this.  Brittny will bundle me up in my winter coat and boots and she will pull a treat from her pocket and have me smell it.  She says, "If you go potty, you can have this treat."  I pee within 30 seconds because I want that treat!  We went inside for a few minutes to warm up and then outside we went again.  She had me smell the treat and said the same thing.  Then I went poo!  I love getting treats for being a good boy.

Brittny has been taking some videos of me lately.  Today we worked on my leash training.  She said I better start learning.  I didn't care about it at all!  I follow her around the house all day and when we are outside so it was a piece of cake.  My first time on a leash is here.

She also has taught me how to jump up on the couch.  That video can be seen here.

Then there is the video of me going not only up the stairs but I can go down too!  You guessed it.  You can see that here.

Other then that, not much has happened today.  I have to go to the vet tomorrow for an eye check up.  My eyes are still slightly cloudy so we'll see what they say.  Hopefully good news.  I will keep you all posted!  Until next time.

When I first saw you standing there it was a little hard not to stare

I blog in my sleep

Time to check in with my friends!  I have been doing great!  I improve more and more daily.  Well, the only thing without much improvement is my potty training but we won't get into that again!

I have to go to the Vet on Friday for a recheck on my eyes.  The ulcers have healed up a lot but they want to see me again.  My foster mom is also going to try to get a urine sample and have them check it out.  She wants to know if I have a UTI or something.  Just because I pee a lot.

I have a new foster brother!  His name is Clyde but he hasn't been listed on the 4 Luv of Dog website yet.  He is like me!  A Pug!  He kind of looks like my dad, Spike!  He is all black unlike me.  My siblings Gizmo, Gladys, and Ivy all look like dad.  I'm the odd Pug.  That's okay.  Someone has be be different!

Clyde

My foster mom saw Gizmo today and he is growing his fur back!  Brittny got curious and took a closer look at me and guess what!  I am growing some back too on my feet!  We are all very excited.

Special bath day!

Too hard to see my fur on my feet growing in.

I have learned some new things.  When Brittny says, "Go to your kennel." I run into the bedroom and sit in my kennel.  I know she is going to give me some treats and I will do many things for a treat!  I can also go not only up the stairs, I can go down them too!  Brittny was very shocked because usually when she goes downstairs for a few minutes I wait on the landing.  To her surprise I was down two steps and waiting.  She had my foster brother Howie go down them and I followed!  She gave me lots of hugs and kisses.  We did this several times and my tail was wagging so much!  I loved how silly she was acting when I did it!  I can also jump on the couch as of today!  When she got home from work she would slide me across the floor on my feet and I would scramble around and sprint towards the couch to her.  I failed the first few times.  I was jumping too soon and then bonk!  Head first into the couch!  A few times she would catch me and pull me up.  After about 10 minutes I was doing it without help.  She would hug me and call me the flying Pug.  Maybe agility is in my future?  Well, we won't go that far.

Cuddles with Howie

Brittny brought home a lot of rawhides from work one day.  I was so excited!  I've never had such tasty things in my mouth!  I only get them with a careful eye.  They aren't the best for puppies or dogs in general.  But I don't try to eat them.  I like to carry them around and lick them.

This is mine!

Brittny made a collage of me to show people my improvements.  It's hard to see when you see me everyday.  So here you go!

16 days of foster care and treatment

It's very scary to think that I was so close to crossing the Rainbow Bridge.  I was surrendered on a Saturday and on Sunday I was rushed to the emergency vet because they didn't think I was going to make it to my appointment on Monday.  I went into foster care on Monday night and I was very weak the first few days.  I slept a lot.  I was healing.  It's amazing what proper vet care and a loving foster family can do for a guy.  I am living proof.  I am a miracle.  I am blessed.

Loving life

I better go now.  As you can see, I am very sleepy tonight.  Until next time!

You were fighting every day. So hard to hide the pain.

Hey guys!  I don't know about you guys but I am not feeling this cold weather!  -45 with windchill?  Gross.  I have been trying to potty outside and as of today I've had Zero accidents with Brittny but I did mess my kennel.

I will be strong.  I'll stand by you.

I had my special bath today.  I have been getting a lot of complements on my appearance these days.  They say I look so much better!  That's what I like to hear.  Brittny stumbled across a photo of me and I was so red, swollen, and covered in bleeding scabs.  Now I hardly have a scab on my body!  My ears are soft.  Brittny keeps feeling them.  They were really icky before.  I just have these little bumps on me, they kind of look like pimples.  I'm sure they will go away as well.

Getting blow dried.

I have been playing a little bit with my foster brothers.  Brittny made this rope out of fleece and I really like it.  She posted a video of me playing.  You can watch it here.  Everyone plays really nice with me.  Charles sometimes will bark or growl at me if I get too close to his rubber toys.  I guess they feel good on his gums considering he has no teeth!  So I leave him alone.  Speaking of teeth!  I am teething!  Brittny stuck her finger in my mouth and I chewed on her finger for a little bit.  To her surprise I am missing a handful of teeth and new ones are slowly poking out of my gums.  So she makes sure I have lots of things to nibble on.  I really prefer her finger but she doesn't let me do it often.  She says it wouldn't be good for me to chew on people's fingers when I grow up.

I guess that's all for today.  Stay warm!

More medicine?!

Hello everyone!  Mohawk here.  Sorry I haven't wrote in a few days.  It has been hard to blog without my Brittny's laptop.  It's getting fixed.  So now I have to use the desktop and it's not as convenient!

I'm sitting nicely!

I went to the Vet on Thursday and I got to see my entire Pug family again!  We had our ten day check up.  I got some shots too.  They said we have all been doing great but we have to be on some new medications.

Can I have some privacy?

Okay.  Here's the latest and the greatest on my medications.  As of today I have finished one oral med.  I was taking that one twice a day.  I still have to take another oral med (liquid form) and I take that one once a day for 90 days.  I also get my special bath every two days.  I think it's an anti-fungal one.  I also have to continue getting the eye ointment for my ulcers in my eyes.  Even though they are healing up they still need more work.  That is three times a day.  So on top of that, here's what's new!  I have to get this solution put into my folds twice a day.  This helps with the yeast.  After that has been in my folds for ten minutes I get another medicine put into the folds of my face!  That is only once a day though.  I do get that first solution for my folds also in my ears.  I guess I have some yeast issues there as well?  I also have to take fish oil twice a day.  Brittny puts that in my food and I don't even know it's there.  I think that's everything.. uffda!

I love her!

I heard that I will be going back to the vet for a skin scrape.  I'm not sure what that is or how they do it.  The word scrape doesn't sound enjoyable!  I also heard that when I am older I will be getting neutered and also having nasal surgery.  That would be nice so I can breathe better!

Well, hey there!

I haven't caught on to this whole "I have to go potty outside thing" yet.  Can someone explain this to me?  Why would I want to stand outside when it's this cold out and freeze when I can just poop and pee on the floors inside?  It's much warmer in here!

I still haven't been keeping my kennel dry either.  Brittny said if I can keep my kennel dry, I could sleep in bed with her!  It sounds like a nice idea but I don't know if I am ready.  I will try.

My brothers from another mother.

My foster brother Zygy got adopted today!  I am very happy for him.  Brittny said he went to a nice family and he has all kinds of room to play.  He also has two kids to play with and he will like that.  He just loves to play and be silly.  I will miss him though.  Now I'm the only Pug in this house filled with Boston Terriers.

Bye Zygy!  Miss you!

I better go.  Brittny said her parents are coming to our house and they have to fix the washing machine.  I guess they need that to wash my dirty bedding!  Until next time!!

Whoa!  I have been blogging for a week and I can't believe how many people have looked at my blog!  This is amazing and I would like to thank you all for your interest in not only my story, but my family's as well.  So thank you!

I missed her!

I have officially learned how to sit!  My foster mom, Brittny, has been working on this with me for the past few days.  My foster dad has been too and today I sat every single time I was asked and I didn't even need a treat to encourage me!  This makes Brittny very happy for me.

The potty training thing on the other hand has been a real struggle.  She understands that I am very tiny for a four month old Pug and that I'm sick, but getting better, but she wishes I could just grasp it a little bit better.  It has been very cold here in Minnesota.  I'm talking zero degrees.  Even with my sweaters and boots, I have a hard time handling the cold.  I made many pee mistakes today.  I even went pee on her car seat.  Luckily she has leather and it was easily cleaned.  I felt really bad.  I would hang my head and hide under a table until she found it.  I don't know how to tell her that I have to go.  It was actually just a hard day because not only did I make potty mistakes, my foster brothers did too.  I think we all hate the cold and we all have cabin fever.    Tomorrow will be better for all of us.

I got to the vet tomorrow with my dad, Gizmo, Gladys and my sister Ivy.  Wait!  I have't told you guys about Ivy!

My beautiful sister Ivy

So my mom had seven babies.  Three of my siblings didn't survive and crossed the rainbow bridge.  Ivy was bought and her owner realized that she had mange.  So she was getting treatment.  Something happened though and now she is here with us!  So now the entire family is together again.

Brittny made me a collar today with dinosaurs on it.  I don't know how I feel about collars.  When I get my special bath I really don't like my neck washed or touched!  So when she put the collar on my, I hung my head all the way to the floor.  It's cute though.  I guess she calls them Bozzy Wozzy and anyone can buy one from any where.  I'm sure she will make me many more in the future.

My Bozzy Wozzy collar

That is all for now.  It has been a very long day.  Lets start fresh tomorrow.

Little by little, day by day

Hey there friends!  I didn't do much today besides sit in my kennel.  Brittny works long days on Mondays.  I was sad because I really enjoyed all of the time we have spent together over this past week.

Yes I said week.  I have been in a foster home for a full week as of today!  I have come a long way already and Brittny is happy with my progress.  I go to the vet on Thursday morning for a check up with my Pug family.  Hopefully they have good things to say!

Brittny can't help but buy me things.  First I got my dinosaur pajamas and now I have this nice sweatshirt.  It's pretty cozy.

Don't I look handsome?

I have been super active today!  Brittny came home from her one job early because she said it was slow and I had a good hour and a half with her.  I was power walking everywhere after her!  I need to be close to her at all times!  She cannot get out of my sight!  So I was on a mission to keep up with her.  She kept laughing at me because I normally just walk slowly but she kept walking so fast!  What was I supposed to do?  Then she took off running away from me!  So I did too!  It was the first time she has ever seen me run.  It felt good great.

Pug life.

I really love to kiss.  Kiss Brittny.  Kiss Zach.  Kiss their friends.  I also love to kiss my foster brothers!  I am just so thankful to have some amazing humans and dogs in my life right now!

Love you, Bosley!

I was so shocked to see him return the favor!

I guess my foster mom found this to be adorable so she took a video of it.  You can find it here.

My foster brother, Howie, played with me a little bit yesterday for the first time.  He was really excited and he had this wild look in his eye.  He ran up to me and grabbed me by the hood of my coat.  Next thing I knew I was being drug around the living room!  It is hardwood flooring and it was actually pretty fun!  Brittny said Bosley did the same thing to Howie when he was a pup!

Okay everyone, until tomorrow.

These boots were made for walkin'

Well hey there!  Just checking in for the night.  It is still very cold outside today and it just makes my feet hurt so badly!  I would just rather go potty inside but Brittny said I can't.  She really wants me to be potty trained.  I made only two pee mistakes on the floor today.  Brittny is just so happy that she has zero carpet in her home so it's very easy to clean up.  I can't help it though, when I have to go.. I have to go!!

My feet are cold!  Why are you taking pictures of this?!

I made yellow snow and then I had to go inside.  Brittny knew I wasn't done and had to go poo but I couldn't take anymore torture!  So she rushed me inside and put these little socks on my feet.

Aren't these the cutest?

Well it helped because my feet stayed warm enough for me to finish my business.  I didn't mind having these things on my feet.  I guess a lot of other dogs really dislike it.  Why would they?  They feel so good!

When Brittny had me go potty again she had another idea.  My foster brothers have boots.  One are a pair that resemble Converse and another are ones that zip up.  They both have a paw print on the bottom of them so when I walk, they still leave paw prints in the snow!  So cool!  So she put Howie's shoes on me.

Now these shoes are awesome!  Like my coat too?

Here I come, mom!

I walk very well in these too!  Brittny was nervous that they would be too heavy compared to the socks but they were just fine.  We walked all over the yard.  I like knowing that my feet don't have to be frozen anymore!  You can see a video of me walking in them here!

I was very active today.  I found a bone and chewed on that a little bit but it's really not my thing yet.  I followed Brittny around the house today while she cleaned.  I have to be everywhere she goes!  I really like her and she talks to me in a funny high pitched voice.  She says, "Hey MoMo!  What are you doing?  Are you a good boy?!" and I walk up to her with my tail wagging and I give her many kisses.  I really like it here.  Can I stay here forever?  I really like my foster dad, Zach, too.  I like to cuddle on the couch with him.  He also has a beard and it feels good to rub my face on it!

I had another special bath today with my shampoo.  I am looking and smelling better after each bath.  My fur is fluffy and more of my scabs are falling off.  I have some on my face, head, and ears but all of the other ones have gone away!  I also haven't had any bleeding from the scabs because I am healing.  I just wish I had some more hair.

I took a good nap today to.  Brittny washes my favorite blankets every two days to keep them fresh.  Every time I lay on them, I drift off to sleep.  I can tell when she wants me to nap for a bit because she comes at me with them and the next thing I know I am drifting off to dreamland.

ZZZzzzZZZzzz

I would like to thank everyone who has been reading my blog.  I understand there are people all over the world reading about my story!  Feel free to share it with your friends.  Don't forget to read Gizmo's and Gladys' blog as well.  I haven't heard if my dad Spike has one yet.  I heard that we have been getting some more donations but we always need more to help us.  If you can help, please do!

I want to show you all of the things this life has in store for you

I woke up today and it was so cold outside!  It was 0 degrees!  My foster mom, Brittny, expects me to make yellow snow out there!  She must be out of her mind!  My feet started to get very cold so I hurried up and made her the yellow snow along with a #2 and she scooped me up and ran me inside.  Good thing because my little bald feet were frozen.

Brittny had to work today so I got to hang out with my foster dad, Zach, all day.  It was fun.  I just cuddled with him all day.  We also played some video games!

Playing Wii together

Brittny also brought me to the 4 Luv of Dog shelter so I could see some of the volunteers.  It was really fun being passed around and getting all kinds of attention!  I really like these girls.

Brittny has been trying to work on my manners.  When she has my pills in a Pill Pocket I get so excited and just want to gobble it up!  So she has been trying to teach me to take things nice.  I need some work on that.  She is also slowly trying to teach me to sit.  It's just so hard!  I don't know what she means!  I smell the treat and I am too worried about trying to get it in my belly instead of focusing on her.  I will get it.. someday.

My foster mom has the whole day off tomorrow so I have a feeling we will have some fun things planned.  She has been taking me all of these fun places and showing me around to people.  I really like it!  That is all for today.  Thank you to everyone who has been donating money to myself and my family.  We really appreciate it and we wouldn't be getting the treatment or the healthy food we have without you guys.  See you guys later!

Please let me take you out of the darkness and into the light because I have faith in you that you're going to make it another night.

So just close your eyes.  Honey here comes a lullaby.  Your very own lullaby.

Hey guys.  Just checking in.  I have been doing better with each day.  I have been going potty outside and this makes my foster parents very happy!  I have started doing the Pug scream in my kennel a little bit more but Brittny gives me a very stern, "No!" when I do this.  So then I quiet down.  I don't think I'm supposed to do it but I would just rather sleep on her lap.

I have been staying awake longer as time goes on.  After about an hour of activity I start to slow down and I'd rather lay on Brittny and lick my paws until I drift off into a long nap.

I was in the Forum today with my family and Brittny!  You can see the link here.  It was very nicely written and everyone is very happy with it!  Brittny was so excited for us that she not only saved the recording of us on the news but she bought not one but three copies of the paper.  I hope that the more people that hear about us, the more help we can get with donations.  We were and are still pretty sick and without the donations, we would be in trouble.

Today Brittny bought me some pajamas.  They have little dinosaurs on them.  Not many clothes she owns fit me so she figured I needed something of my own.  Not only are they stylish, they keep me warm and it feels good on my itchy body.

Howie and I

My foster parents brought me to a store that Brittny works at part time to show me off.  They brought Zygy with too!  I got to meet some of the people she works with and they were all very nice and they all felt very sad for me too.

When we got back home it was time for my special bath.  I get this done every two days.  I don't like waiting for the whole ten minutes because I get so cold!  I know it will be worth it in the end though.

After my bath I cuddled with Zach on the couch and my foster brothers Bosley and Howie.  They sure make silly faces when they tilt their heads.

I should get my rest.  I hear there is a winter storm blowing in and that we are going to get some snow.  I'm not thrilled because I am so cold with the little snow we do have!  I will be swimming in all of that junk!  Okay everyone, goodnight.

You're not done.  You're far too young and the best is yet to come.
